Why the right glass matters
Two cars of the same year, make, and model can need different windshields. Rain sensors, forward cameras, heated wiper areas, acoustic layers, and head-up displays all change which part fits.
That is why we ask about your vehicle's features and may ask for a photo of the top center of the windshield behind the mirror. A VIN helps us identify the vehicle, but it does not identify the glass on its own.
When replacement is the right call
A technician makes the final call, but replacement is typical when:
- A crack is longer than a few inches or is still spreading
- Damage sits directly in the driver's line of sight
- The damage reaches the edge of the glass
- The glass is shattered, punctured, or has several impact points
